What is DRM? And why do you have it?

DRM is a WMA format, only compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Media Player (on a PC). DRM stands for digital rights management, which is a protection feature to disallow sharing of the files (copyright protection).

When a DRM file is found on our site, it is because we have agreements with the original print publishers and are required to protect the files with DRM technology.

DRM WMA files must be downloaded using the newest and most up-to-date (full-release) version of Internet Explorer and can only be played with Microsoft’s Windows Media Player on a PC (not compatible with a Mac). This file type CANNOT be transferred to Apple’s iPod or any other mp3 media player (unless the device supports DRM acquisition) and it cannot be converted to any other file format.

We are happy to say that more than 99% of titles on our site are available in MP3 & M4B formats (without DRM) and we're working to make our site DRM-free over this next year.
