I have loaded the program on my phone but I can't get it to start up. I touch the icon and it appears to try to open but then goes back to the original screen. This is a free download. Shall I reload the program again or load it on my apple computer first and then restore it on my iphone? Thanks for your help in advanced.

Janice, that's really strange. We've had tens of thousands of people use the app and have never had an error like this.
My recommendation would be to delete the app from the phone and then sync the phone to your computer, ensuring the phone itself is running the newest OS. Then, reinstall the app and see if that works.Comment -

I downloaded the app a few days ago and it was working fine, now it is doing the same thing that Janice's is doing--trying to open, but then quitting. I have reloaded it, but it still happens.

What device are you using? We just released version 1.1 last night for devices running iOS4 and it might fix any issues you are having if you download and install the newest version.

I appreciate the new version and I will give it a try. So far the old program works randomly every other day. Some days I can listen to the books I downloaded and somedays it will not. Honestly I realize many people have used this program with success but this does not mean my problem is any less legitimate or significant. I actually did not care for the representative's comment on my first post. I am just looking for answers and it is not my intention to discredit this company. I think your products are great. I just wanted my audio book reader to work. Janice-
If you wouldn't mind sending us a list of steps you are going to that seem to cause the error, we can look into it further. Unfortunately, we are unable to replicate the problem and thus cannot determine what issue you might be having.

I just got a new iPhone 4 last week. Downloaded this app, but it doesnt work at all. The icon is on my mobile desktop, it opens when I tap it, but the only thing I see is your logo. I am interested in the solution. It just doesn't work at all.

Hi, turning the iPhone into Airplane mode in the Settings make the Freeaudio app to start every time. I guess it is a communication timeout problem when the network is not fast enough or similar.
In normal mode, repeatedly trying to start the Freeaudio app eventually succeeds. But it might take 4-8 tries.
This is the best audiobook app I have found, even with the minor problem of getting it to start.

Thanks for your comments, Marcus. The app is a "streaming" app if you haven't downloaded a title and requires that you have your device connected to data (WiFi or 3G). Once a title is download, you should be able to launch the app and listen to the title without being connected to data.

I'm also having trouble opening the app.It used to work. Now it doesn't. And I'm not sure what changed!
I have an iPhone 3G running the latest iOS available for it 4.2.1

I seem to be having similar problem on my Ipod touch. I am trying to upload "The EVERYTHING Martin Luther King Jr Book " and have tried several times but it freezes and does not complete the upload. It has taken half an hour to load only a 1/4 before freezing.
How long should it take to load a book? Am on adsl+2 fast broadband. -

Charlie, it shouldn't take much longer than 10 minutes or so to download a book in entirety. I would suggest following the instructions in the comments above yours and see if that helps.

I downloaded this app earlier this year, and used it without problems until the most recent update. After the update none of my books would play. I reinstalled the app, and now, none of my books are there, and there doesn't seem to be anyway to download anything on the app. Fortunately the books that I had downloaded were all free, so I'm not out any money, but I'd like to finish listening to them. I have an ipod touch 4 now, but it wasn't working on my ipod 3 either.

Rae, I apologize for the problems you are having with this. I would recommend deleting the app and syncing the phone to your computer. Ensure that you are running the newest firmware on your phone (updating your device) and then try reinstalling the app and see if that works. Let me know if this helps.
